Even though I’m a registered dietitian specializing in weight loss, I was living a lie.
I would be “good” in public, but secretly, I would binge on popcorn, waffles with powdered sugar, and chocolate as soon as everyone went to bed. When I was lonely, chocolate was my friend. When I was bored, cookies were the answer. I preached “love your body” even though I hated mine. I was obsessed with my weight, on the scale several times a day.
I was just like my clients and patients. How could I help them when I couldn’t even help myself? Diets didn’t work. Pills and potions had nasty side effects. Even the weight loss surgery patients I knew gained back their lost weight.
There had to be more to the story. Losing weight and keeping it off shouldn’t be so hard. Why was it consuming so much space in my head? Why was it a constant battle? Was there something wrong with me?
I was just like my clients. I knew what I was supposed to do but I just couldn’t do it!
It’s Not About The Food
The answer is about WHY we are over-eating!
It really comes down to what we’re THINKING and what we’re FEELING.
It doesn’t matter what diet we are on…
No diet will work as long as we are being driven by cravings and emotional eating.
From that moment on, I started learning everything I could about how to let go of the negative beliefs and emotions causing my cravings and emotional eating and how to rewire my brain to help me lose the weight and keep it off.
