Some have an additional benefit for the management of overweight or obesity. Medicare provides coverage for diabetes and renal disease. Our office is also a provider for the Medicaid Preventative Health Assistance (PHA) benefit for overweight kids and adults. Our office is also HIPPA Compliant, which means we protect your privacy. Medicare
Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services prescribed by a doctor for people with diabetes or kidney disease. This benefit includes:
An initial assessment of nutrition and lifestyle assessment.
Nutrition counseling.
Information regarding managing lifestyle factors that affect diet.
Follow-up visits to monitor progress managing diet.
Medicaid
Idaho Medicaid offers the Preventative Health Assistance (PHA) Benefit for overweight kids, teen, and adults. To qualify for this benefit you must complete a brief Health Questionnaire stating your height, weight, age, and your desire to improve your health through weight management. Adults must have a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than or equal to 30. Children and teens 5 years and older must be in the obese category (BMI-for-age greater than or equal to the 95th percentile) or in the underweight range (BMI-for-age less than or equal to the 5th percentile).
Qualified person will receive a voucher good for up to $200 to help pay for their weight management program fees at a participating vendor.
